The second Highland Open Water Swim at Glenuig. We had so much fun last year that we decided to come back again!
This is a gentle swim (1.3km) to start off your open water swimming year. A sandy bottom and clear water make this swim exceptionally good for beginners. In addition, we're not going to go very far from the shore, so no tides to worry about! As the cherry on top of the cake, we have access to the Glenuig Community Hall, which means a bowl of soup and a cup of coffee inside for a change!
A gentle swim to start the year. At 1.3km, this is a really approachable swim and an ideal first swim for beginners. The starting point is a short walk from the Community hall to a beach nearby and then participants swim back to Glenuig beach. with access to the Community Hall to change after the swim. This way we are actually following the tide, which will help swimmers.
The swim is planned to start at 12.30pm, but this is still subject to confirmation. Final details will be emailed to swimmers who have registred for this event.
With a swim in February, swimmers should expect low water temperatures, possibly around 5-10 degrees. For more experienced swimmers, this would be perfect as training to acclimatise for longer swims later in the year (such as the Sound of Mull, which we will be running in June!). There is no minimum age to participate, but swimmers under 16 must have a parent present. Parent does not need to participate in the swim, but must be present throughout the event.
