"Emergence" is the first Ardnamurchan Art Group exhibition, celebrating the beauty of Ardnamurchan and beyond through the eyes of local artists.
With a preview opening on the evening of the 8th April, continuing throughout the day, 10am - 4pm, on the 9th and 10th, local artists will have the chance to exhibit their work at the Salen Village Hall. The exhibition is the brainchild of members of the Ardnamurchan Art Group, an inclusive group of local artists who work at different levels and in a range of media from charcoal, through watercolour to oil.
The exhibition coincides with the anniversary of the passing of one of the groups founding members, Gabry, who sadly passed away last spring.
“Gabry always encouraged us to do more than we thought we were capable of. She would have absolutely encouraged us to stage this exhibition”, explains Gabri’s fellow artist, Karen Macgregor.
Susan Ellis, co-founder of the group explains; “Gabri had such warmth about her. She brought people together and made us believe that as a group we could achieve things beyond our individual expectations. We miss her very much.’
It’s in this spirit of celebration and co-operation, of confidence combined with friendship, that the Ardnamurchan Art Group provides a platform for local artists to share their work with the wider community.
The exhibition is a tribute to the stunning beauty, spectacular scenery and unparalleled wildlife of this unique and remote landscape. Encompassing sea, shore and ancient woodland, at its heart Ardnamurchan has always been about beauty in contrasts, but as Emergence shows, it’s also about the special beauty that can be found in community.
For the members of Ardnamurchan Art Group, Emergence, as the name implies, is an opportunity to showcase their work. For others it's a chance to acquire a unique memory of this extraordinary landscape which will be with you always.
